Rob Lendrum, Andrea-Jane Cornell, and Vanessa Chu are completing their Masters Degree in Media Studies at Concordia University. Donald Goodes is an artist, critic and web designer living in Montreal.

Abstract

Sorting it out at the Salvation Army: Reflections on Work, Class and the Art of Research

This contribution to Digital Politics and Poetics describes the Salvation Works project, which was a part of the Used Goods exhibition, curated by Gisele Amantea and Lorraine Oades in November, 2004. The exhibition took place within a Montreal Salvation Army thrift store. The paper, presented as an essay with links to image and sound files, reflects upon the experience and contradictions of doing research, using new media production tools, in the context of this location.
